Administration

Chancellor of the University is His Excellency, the Governor of West Bengal.  Vice-Chancellor as the Chief Executive of the University is supported by the Registrar in administration, Comptroller in financial management, Deans in respect of academic activities of the Faculties and Directors for management of research and extension activities in the fields of Agriculture, Horticulture and Agricultural Engineering. The Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat staffed with a Secretary to Vice-Chancellor, one Superintendent, two Clerical Assistants and 7 Office Attendants are also a supportive unit in functioning the office of the Vice-Chancellor.
Administrative Branches
The Administrative Branch of the University deals with matters pertaining to administration is headed by a Registrar who is being assisted by a Deputy Registrar, three Assistant Registrars. There are 7 (seven) sections in the branch in addition to a Legal Cell, Care-taking Unit and Registrar’s / Dy. Registrar’s Secretariat. The functioning of these Sections including staff position (includes Office Superintendents, Personal Assistant to Registrar / Stenographers / Law Assistant / Clerical Assistants and Office Attendants) is mentioned below.
1.  Establishment Section: Staff position - 33 nos. Deal with promotion, transfer, fixation of pay, leave, service book, retirement / terminal benefits and welfare of employees.
2.  Recruitment Section: Staff position - 6 nos. Deal with appointment, placement and confirmation.
3.  Admission & Scholarship Section: Staff position – 9 nos. Deal with admission, scholarship and matters relating to students.
4.  Examination Section: Staff position – 12 nos. Deal with conducting examinations of students / publication of results.
5.  Common Service Section: Staff position – 27 nos. Deal with transport system / vehicles/ general purchase and stores.
6.  Meeting Section: Staff position – 7 nos. Deal with meetings of Executive Council and Court and other Committees.
7.  Receipt & Dispatch Section: Staff position – 6 nos. Deal with receipt and     despatch of correspondences.
8.   Legal Cell:  Staff position – 5 nos. Deal with all legal matters and estate.
9.  Caretaking Unit: Staff position – 5 nos.  Deal with taking care of minor civil works / cleaning of administrative building and maintenance of guesthouse.
10. Registrar’s / Dy. Registrar’s Secretariat: Staff position- 11 nos. Deal with assisting the office of the Registrar and Dy. Registrar.

PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT BRANCH
The Planning and Development Branch is dealing with (i) Planning and overall development of the University (constructional projects, infrastructure development, establishment of new Faculties, departments, laboratories, libraries, hostels etc), (ii) Placing of fund requirement to State Govt., ICAR and other funding agencies on developmental heads and AICR Projects including ad-hoc research Projects. The Special Officer (Development) is holding the responsibility of the Branch and functioning with the help of a few ministerial staff in the branch.

Finance Branch
The Comptroller’s Dept. (Finance) deals with proper disbursement of fund and auditing of accounts. The Dept. is headed by a Comptroller being assisted by three Assistant Comptrollers and 51 nos. of staff members (include Cashier, Accountants, Superintendents, Clerical Assistants and Office Attendants).
Works Department
This department deals with infrastructural (civil & electrical) development and maintenance of the University. The construction, repair and renovation in both civil and electrical side are to take care of.  This department is headed by a Civil Engineer being assisted by an Assistant Engineer (Civil) and an Asstt. Engineer (Electrical) including 43 nos. of other technical staff like Engineering Overseer, Electrical Overseer, Estimator, Electrician, Office Superintendent, Clerical Assistants, Wiremen, Office Attendants.
Health Unit
The Health Unit caters services to the students, teachers and non-teaching employees including family members residing University quarters, is headed by one Medical Officer & In-Charge, Health Unit, being assisted by two Medical Officer and 7 staff members (includes Pharmacist, Dresser, Clerical Assistant, Attendant etc).
Watch & Ward Unit
This Watch & Ward Unit, headed by a Security Officer being assisted by a Security Superintendent and 61nos. of Darwan / Watchmen, deals with keeping strict vigilant round the clock for the safety / security of the University property at the Main Campus and other Campuses including Farms stationed at different districts. Contract service from Security Agencies is also taken.
