Mango

 
  • Thinning of crowded branches and centre opening after fruit harvest along with application of standard dose of paclobutrazol was found very effective pruning method in mango for obtaining maximum yield and individual fruit weight over control. This treatment also exhibited maximum TSS, total sugar with minimum acidity.
  • In mango, double hedge row system of planting harvested maximum yield followed by hedge row system. However, fruit qualities were found maximum in square system of planting.
  • Models for forewarning time of appearance of powdery mildew in mango have been developed to help the farmers for taking prophylactic measures in checking the disease through toll–free call from Plant Health Clinic, Directorate of Research., BCKV. For powdery mildew management, three sprays with Bayletan 25 WP or Carbendazim @ 1 g/l along with sticker at pre-bloom. 10 days after 1st spray and at fruit setting stage is also recommended for this region.
  • Chemical management of mango anthracnose, blossom blight and important diseases of guava like wilt, canker, fruit rot were standardized.
  • Spinsoad (0.004%) based Module IV and thiamethaxam (0.008%) based Module III were found equally effective for management of mango hoppers.
