Organic Certification 

Organic Bengal Aromatic Rice-based Cropping System has been developed in 3 Farms (1 University Farm and 1 Farms / farmers’ fields) in 2 districts (Nadia and PurbaBardhaman) in South Bengal region along with Paddy Processing Centre, BCKV, Nadiasince 2010 under BCKV-BARCS organic certification programme. IMO Control Pvt. Ltd., being accredited by APEDA under Ministry of Commerce and Industries, Government of India is the Organic Certification Agency for the programme. The RKVY Project on ‘Bengal Aromatic Rice’ has got the Organic License (No. CMS-0089/2012-IMO Control, dated 31 December, 2012) under BCKV-BARCS Organic Certification Programme. Thus, first certified Gobindabhog, Radhatilak, Radhunipagal, LalBadshabhog and Harinakhuri rice have been produced in India as well as permitted for trading in 2017 under technical supervision of BCKV. It is expected to launch the organic ‘Bengal Aromatic Rice’with ‘India Organic’ logo in national and global market in near future. Meanwhile, The RKVY Project developed packets of certified organic aromatic paddy seed of 3 varieties (Gobindabhog, Radhatilak and Radhunipagal), which were released in Training and Discussion Programme on ‘Bengal Aromatic Rice: Organic Production and Marketing’ on 14 July, 2017 at BCKV,Kalyani, Nadia.
